Sharing good news
We finally heard the results from Adalyn's last genetics test. We now know what type of Aniridia she has and how she got it. She has Isolated Aniridia, which means it is not associated with any other health or mental problems. She most likely has it because of a random chance mutation of her PAX6 gene. There is a tiny chance it could have been something Nathan and I passed on, but not likely since we have no evidence of it being in either of our families. We could get our genes tested to find out, but we feel that is not necessary. So, very small chance of us having any other children with Aniridia. Adalyn will have a 50% chance of passing this onto her children. She is so amazing and fun! If you didn't know she had something wrong with her eyes, you would never guess. She acts like she can see really well. And she looks so darn cute in her shades.

That is such great news Kristen! I was so shocked last night when Adalyn climbed up on my lap to play with me. Usually, she just gives me a little grin and that's it. But it was definitely a great surprise! That little girl is somethin' special for sure!!!
I love her shades too! She is a cutie!
