Am I supposed to be the responsible one here?
Every once in a while, something happens in your life that makes you question how you've been able to keep your family healthy and safe for so long. We recently were blessed one happy night when someone left a goldfish on our doorstep. Her name was Rosita. Yes, I said "was." Sadly, she has passed on, along with two other goldfish that we got to be her friends. They were Nemo and Ariel. I am not a good pet owner. Or a good plant owner. I kill everything. Last summer, we tried keeping a praying mantis(Hopper) we found. It died, too. I just don't understand many things that don't talk. I need them to communicate with me. Am I feeding you too much , too little, are you missing your family, is your water too cold? So many questions run through my mind when I am trying to take care of living things. I don't know why my children are different. But, I seem to understand them more. Of course two of them are talking now, but they are so easy to please and I love that! Why can't a goldfish be the same? Anyone have any tips for taking care of a goldfish? We still have two more alive.(Lenny and Wolf) We'd like it to stay that way. Sorry this post is so wierd.

HA! I have no advice seeing as we have killed about 50 goldfish in the last two years. We finally gave up... Good LUCK!
Yeah, goldfish do not fare well around our house either. It's a wonder my children have survived this long!
I have had lots of pets....but any kind of fish never last too long! Usually the tank is too clean or too dirty! Too much food, too little? Fish? Not a good pet at the Hatch household!
P.S. Glad you are posting again! If you ever need a little breather, let me know!
I have no advice for you. We had African Dwarf frogs that survived for a couple years but fish never more than a couple months. I do know someone who has two gold fish that are honestly 10 and 15 years old. So I'll ask her for you. It's probably luck though ;).
Way to go!! I was told that if you can get a dog to behave, you can most certainly get your kids to behave. I have the naughtiest dog around... is that why my kids are always all over the place, too!!? Good luck with those last two!

We flushed our live ones.. so yeah let your kids feed them too much food, feed them cinnamon rolls, and everything they should get, let your kids try to eat them, catch them, lick them and they will live. Take good care of them, and they die. So abuse them.
I have gotten way past the goldfish stage. Now we have this cylindar that is filled with only distilled water. In it there are about 20 different kinds of fish - we have angel fish, clown fish, sea horses and even a jelly fish. We've had this for about 5 years and just keep adding more fish to it. We never had to get rid of one. A few have lost their eyes and such, but we still love them. Yes, these are the best fish in the world to have as Nelson Pets. By the way, did I mention that they are all plastic?
